A study conducted by World Linguistic Agency has rated Zambia the Second Best English Speaking Country in Africa. This comes in the wake of a video from a Miss Rwanda contestant that was shown struggling with English in a country that made a move from Francophone to Anglophone. After Uganda, Zambia came next and the following countries came in closely; South Africa, Kenya and Malawi. The full list is here:
3. South Africa
10. Rwanda As Zed Corner, we strongly believe that Uganda does not deserve to be on top of Zambia because most Ugandans are not fluent in English on average as compared to Zambians. I am sure most of you know the popular lady comedian from Uganda called Anne Kansiime (Check her videos here), you can honestly agree with me that most Zambians are way better understood than that. Anyway, it is not like we really want to earn a position on top of the list. We as Zed Corner think that no African country should feel a sense of pride for using a former colonial master’s language. It is high time we started taking pride in what truly belongs to us. Why not let African languages go mainstream? Why not internationalise languages like Bemba, Lozi, Zulu, Xhosa and all the other African languages I have not mentioned? Why are we so brainwashed by non Africans? Be proud of your in heritage.
