Zambia takes Tourism in Africa By Storm is a common song being sang literally around the globe.
CNN Africa has identified Zambia as one of the most steadily growing tourism destination in Africa.
Zambia’s wildlife, culture, climate and adventure are one of the few reasons the tourism industry in Zambia is doing so well of late.
Every year thousands of people flock to Zambia on a much needed vacation to one of the many national parks or to see one of the seven natural wonders of the world, the Victoria falls.
Unlike other African countries, which offer tourism, Zambia offers more to it’s customers because of the range in products it has. Tourism in Zambia has been growing vastly in the last 6 years with a 10% growth margin but of course there has been setbacks here and there especially after the global crunch.
Zambia’s popular destinations are spread across the country as shown on the map below.
Due to the fact that all great travel destinations in Zambia are spread wide across Zambia, it was inevitable to form an airline to operate locally. It is for this very reason that Proflight Zambia was formed.
Proflight has played a major role in boosting domestic tourism in Zambia. Proflight Zambia managing director Tony Irwin said the airline had seen a steady growth on all it’s tourist routes.
Proflight Zambia was founded in 1991 and since then it has grown from having only a single five-seater twin-engine aircraft to having a fleet of nine planes including a 50-seat Bombardier CRJ-100. Today the airline flies over 12,000 travellers around the country every month.
