Zambia Experiences Total Blackout
Last evening most parts of Zambia experienced electricity power outage following a national blackout after power went out across the country with the exception of Southern and Western Provinces.
And Energy Minister Dora Siliya said that Zesco had suffered a system disturbance on the Kariba South-Kariba North line.
She further said the power outage was because of a system disturbance, which resulted into loss of generation at the power station.
However Southern and Western provinces where not affected and continued receiving power from Victoria Falls power station.
“We lost power supply in the country except for Western and Southern provinces after the tripping of Kariba South- Kariiba North line which was carrying our imports of about 560 MW. This forced the tripping of generators at Kariba North and later Kafue gorge on overload,” Ms Siliya said.
