Wildlife Protection Acquires Planes

Wildlife Protection Acquires Planes.

GOVERNMENT has bought six planes to be used for aerial wildlife monitoring and surveillance in game parks and reserves countrywide to curb poaching.

Ministry of Defence permanent secretary Sturdy Mwale said in an interview that Government is determined to curb poaching and promote wildlife tourism.

“ The planes will help in monitoring game parks and reserves that are not easily accessible by road,” Mr Mwale said.

He said the wildlife sector has potential to contribute to the development of the tourism sector to earn Zambia the muchneeded foreign exchange.

“ As the country is diversifying, it is important that sectors such as tourism receive a lot of attention,” Mr Mwale said.
