Three UPND Cadres Appear In Court
Three United Party for National Development-UPND cadres have appeared in the Kasama magistrate court for mention on a charge of occasioning actual bodily harm.
The three UPND cadres are Joseph Mwansa, Christopher Malama and Patrick Sinyangwe, who all denied the charge before principle resident magistrate Vincent Siloka.
Mwansa is said to have occasioned actual bodily harm on Martin Kafula, Malama on Jeff Chiti and Sinyangwe on Felix Mwansa, an offense contrary to Section 248 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
Magistrate Siloka granted a one thousand kwacha cash bail to Malama and Sinyangwe while Mwansa’s bail application was denied after state prosecutors expressed fear that he would interfere with witnesses.
Mwansa has since been remanded in custody.
The matter for comes up for trial for Mwansa and Malama on 2nd December, while Sinyangwe will appear in court on 3rd December, 2015.
Meanwhile, the matter was delayed after Magistrate Siloka sent the accused persons to change clothes as they were clad in party regalia.
He has since warned all suspects that it was unnecessary for them to come with UPND regalia as the court does not stage host to political rallies.
