Tanzanian Heroin Trafficker Nabbed By DEC
THE Drug Enforcement Commission has arrested a 36-year-old Tanzanian national for trafficking in heroin.
Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) public relations officer Theresa Katongo in a statement stated that Hussein Tayari Musa, 36, a Tanzanian businessman of Kibaha area in Dar-es-Salaam had been arrested for trafficking in heroin weighing 853g concealed in a shoe.
“The Drug Enforcement Commission has arrested a 36-year-old Tanzanian national for trafficking in heroin.. The suspect was arrested at Chirundu border as he was coming from South Africa enroute to Tanzania,” Ms. Katongo stated.
The suspect who is currently detained at Chirundu Police Station appeared in the Siavonga Magistrates Court on December 14, 2015 for mention and trial in his case will continue on January 11, 2016.”
And Ms. Katongo stated that the Commission in Lusaka had arrested two bus drivers, a conductor and a Mechanic of Matero Township for trafficking in cannabis.
Ms. Katongo stated that the four suspects included Bwalya Kapoyo, 29, a bus driver, Boston Sakala also a bus driver, Evaristo Mafinge, 29, a bus conductor and Patrick Mtongo, 35, a Mechanic were intercepted at Chingwere Cemetery.
“A Toyota Hiace and an Inverter have since been seized by the Commission. Also arrested in Lusaka is Frank Mwangilwa, a 19-year-old pupil of Olympia Township for trafficking in 100 tablets of diazepam and two (02) pre-packs of cannabis,” Ms. Katongo stated.
Meanwhile, Ms. Katongo stated that in Central Province, the Commission had arrested Sillet Chelo, 30, a peasant farmer of Kanyensha village in Mumbwa District for trafficking in 12.6kg of cannabis.
She stated that all suspects would appear in court soon.
