Stella Libongani Redeployed As High Commissioner To Canada
President Lungu has relieved Stella Libongani of her powers as the Police Inspector General.
President Edgar Lungu has further appointed Kakoma Kanganja as Inspector-General of Police taking over from Stella Libongani.
President Lungu’s special assistant for press and public relations in a statement stated that that Mrs. Libongani has been redeployed into the Foreign Service as High Commissioner to Canada.
“His Excellency Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, President of the Republic of Zambia, has appointed Mr. Kakoma Kanganja as Inspector-General of Police taking over from Mrs. Stella Libongani who has been re-deployed into the Foreign Service as High Commissioner to Canada,” Mr. Chanda stated.
“Mr. Kanganja was until his appointment, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Administration), a position that has been taken over by Mr. Eugene Sibote, who has risen from his position as Police Commissioner for Eastern Province.”
Mr. Chanda stated that President Lungu had also appointed Mr. Wilfred Kopa Muma from the Judiciary, as Commissioner of Lands.
Zambia has had a fad of sending people into foreign missions as a way of low key retiring them, as Libongani has seen this fate befall her.
It is absurd to compare duties of an Inspector General to that of a High Commisioner.
It is sad to say that Lungu has seen Libongani unfit as Inspector General therefore he decided to send her abroad in a nest she can peacefully retire in.
