South UPND vows not to recognise Lungu as Republican President
By Prince Lubanga
NO amount of intimidation will force us to recognise the PF president Edgar Lungu as the Head of State, says Neto Halwabala.
On Monday, President Lungu told Livingstone residents on his arrival at Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport that they should accept him as a tourist if they don’t recognise him as President.
“One Zambia, One Nation. I know some of you are asking: what is the President doing in Livingstone? Livingstone is a tourist capital and if you don’t accept me as President of Zambia, accept me as a tourist. I know you think that this is a joke but there are some people who believe that I am not President,” said President Lungu.
Halwabala, who is Southern Province UPND information and publicity secretary, said the PF under President Lungu was a risk to national security.
“As UPND in Southern Province, our position on the PF leader Edgar Lungu is very clear and no amount of intimidation will force us to recognise him as a Republican President of Zambia,” Halwabala said.
He said the PF’s theft of the 2016 election was an act of treason against the people of Zambia.
Halwabala said Zambians were now suffering as a result of the PF’s mediocre leadership.
“Local farmers cannot afford fertiliser for their crops; civil servants are living in fear because the PF has infiltrated the civil service with its cadres who are masquerading as professional civil servants,” Halwabala said.
He added that Zambia was no longer a safe place to live in because the PF under President Lungu was a danger to peace and national stability.
“PF tyrants want to destroy the democracy this country is built upon…We are seeing the police being instructed to muzzle the media through arrests and intimidation. The PF must start preparing to account for its leaders’ criminal and corrupt activities they are committing now,” said Halwabala.
