Road Contractor Cautioned And Urged To Speed Up Work.

GOVERNMENT has urged the contractor working on the bridge across Luangwa River on the Chama- Matumbo road to speed up its work and ensure that a professional job is done.

Muchinga Province permanent secretary Bright Nundwe said the government and members of the public expect nothing but a good product from the contractor.

Mr Nundwe said he is happy that the works are taking shape and that Government expects more progress on the construction.

He said in an interview yesterday that Government is committed to ensuring the road project is completed on time.

He urged China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation ( CCECC) to do a good job.

Mr Nundwe, however, expressed disappointment that it is taking too long for the contractor to work on the bridge across Luangwa River.

“ The contractor should speed up work on the bridge across Luagwa River so that motorists should be able to use the road to go to Chinsali and from Chinsali to Chama. We need a bridge across Luangwa River,” Mr Nundwe said.

He urged the contractor to have the necessary materials and quickly move on site to begin the works.

Mr Nundwe said Government wants the road to take shape as quickly as possible.

He said the construction works of the Chama– Matumbo road linking Northern, Muchinga and Eastern provinces will boost economic trade in the region.
