Nigerian in court for trafficking marijuana.

A NIGERIAN trader who was recently convicted for illegally staying in Zambia has been slapped with charges of trafficking in over three kilogrammes of marijuana.

Emmanuel Udubor, 42 is jointly charged with Jean Nkonjela, 31 a hairdresser of Lusaka’s Garden Compound.

The duo is facing three counts of trafficking in psychotropic substances contrary to the Laws of Zambia.

It is alleged in the first count that Udubor, who is currently in Lusaka Central Prison, and Nkonjela, on November 10 in Lusaka, jointly and whilst acting together, trafficked in 1.035 kilogrammes of marijuana without lawful authority.

In the second count, the duo is alleged to have trafficked in 2.53 kilogrammes of marijuana.

Count three alleges that the two accused persons on the same date imported 1.035 kilogrammes of marijuana.

When the matter came up for plea on Tuesday, prosecutors from the Drug Enforcement Commission informed the court that Udubor had not been brought to court.

The matter was then stood down.
