Mushili Minibus Driver Shot After Attempting To Rape A Woman.

A Commando of Mushili Commando Unit in Ndola has shot and wounded a 23-year-old minibus driver of Mushili Kansengu Township who allegedly attempted to rape a woman.

Copperbelt Province commissioner of police Joyce Kasosa said in an interview yesterday that the incident happened on Monday around 23:00 near Mushili Commando Unit.

Ms. Kasosa has identified the minibus driver as Bright Chanda of house number 5342.

Ms. Kasosa said Chanda was shot in the left shoulder and that the bullet is still stuck in the shoulder.

“It is believed that Chanda offered a lift to this woman and instead of dropping her at a designated place, he drove past it and allegedly attempted to rape her.

And when the woman screamed for help, some commandos heard and came to rescue her. Upon seeing the commandos, Chanda attempted to run away and that was how he was shot by one of the Commandos,” Ms. Kasosa said.

She said Chanda is admitted to Ndola Central Hospital.

She further revealed that the woman is a resident of Kitwe but that she had travelled to Ndola to visit her relatives when Chanda offered her a lift and profusely attempted to rape her in the process.
