KKIA To Be Upgraded In 2018
The upgrading of Kenneth Kaunda International Airport is expected to be completed in 2018.
The 360 million U.S dollar project includes the construction of a four million capacity international terminal building with six aero bridges.
The project will also involve the construction of a 30 room capacity in-transit hotel as well as a seventy room non-transit passenger hotel.
The contractor, China Jiangxi Corporation for International Economic and Technical Cooperation is also expected to construct new taxi ways and aprons.
The firm will further construct the rescue and fire services stations, landside and airside driveways as well as an Air Traffic Control Tower.
Zambia Airports Corporation Limited Communications and Brand Manager Mweembe Sikaulu confirmed this in a statement sent to Zed Corner News today.
Ms. Sikaulu says the existing Kenneth Kaunda International Airport will become a domestic terminal once construction of a new terminal is completed.
