Katete police pick body of murdered man

POLICE in Katete have picked a body of a man who is alleged to have been murdered.
And a Chipata taxi driver has committed suicide.
Eastern Province police commissioner Alex Chilufya named the deceased as Peter Yamisani Mbewe who was murdered by unknown people.
Chilufya said Mbewe left home on Saturday around 16:00 hours and was found dead on Sunday.
“A report of murder was received from Katete reported by Esaya Manda of Mwandafisi village in chief Kawaza that passersby found Peter Yamisani Mbewe murdered on the road around 06:00 hours (on Sunday). The body had physical injuries with a swollen face. A heavy, blunt object is believed to have been used,” Chilufya said.
He said police suspect foul play and that the body was deposited in St Francis mortuary awaiting postmortem.
Chilufya said police have since launched investigations into Mbewe’s death.
Meanwhile, a Chipata taxi driver has committed suicide.
The deceased only identified as Patrick committed suicide on Saturday.
According to his close friends, the deceased, who did not leave any note, is believed to have picked with relatives over the manner he used his money after selling a house.
