The Kalulushi Municipal Council in conjunction with Zambia Police Service made amendments to rid Kalulushi of over 130 stray dogs by shooting them dead.

The council’s assistant public relations manager Beauty Undi said in a statement released in Kitwe yesterday the mission was executed in Chibuluma, Kalulushi and Chambishi townships to rid the towns of stray dogs.

Ms. Undi said the municipality had been receiving alarming reports of stray dogs viscously terrorizing residents and in some cases biting people.

However, Ms. Undi assured Zed Corner reporters that the act of gunning down the dogs was in compliance with the Control of Dogs Act.

She also appealed to the residents of Kalulushi to vaccinate their dogs against rabies and to keep them within the confines of their premises to prevent the spread of rabies.
