GOVERNMENT has disbursed K106,000 to 27 women groups in Livingstone through the Department of Community Development in Livingstone.
Livingstone acting district commissioner Harriet Kawina said the beneficiaries of the village bank loans were recently trained in HIV, gender and human rights.
“The loan to be disbursed in this cycle is K106,000, as seed money to 27 groups, which has a total of 135 beneficiaries,” Kawina said.
She said the targeted beneficiaries of the loans would receive between K500 and K2,000.
Kawina added that the soft loans would promote women entrepreneurial skills and enhance household food security, leading to improved children’s nutrition and wealth creation.
