Chipolopolo Mustn’t Relax – Jericho Shinde.
VETERAN coach Jericho Shinde has advised Chipolopolo not to relax following their recent 1-1 draw with Cameroon in a Group B World Cup qualifier.
In an interview, Shinde said there was need to keep the players in form with quality friendly matches before their World Cup qualifiers in August next year.
“The way the team played shows that we are headed the right way, the team showed a lot of positives. But we should not relax, let’s keep the players in form. August may seem far but it is not,” Shinde said.
He called for patience from fans as coach Wedson Nyirenda rebuilds the team.
“We should not be over ambitious, Nyirenda is rebuilding the team, let us support him. If we go to the World Cup, that will be a plus, but right now, rebuilding is key,” said Shinde.
Chipolopolo host group tail-enders Algeria in August before a reverse fixture scheduled for September 2.
Chipolopolo will then face Nigeria before wrapping up their group matches at home against the Indomitable Lions.
Zambia lie third in Group B of the qualifiers.
